This will also require a change in the CMS to allow for a 'Staging' status for some activities. These staging status items will be visible on Staging, but not on Production.

Staging status will be needed for Channels, Categories, Subcategories, Surveys, and Content. Likely any new type of content for production will need a staging status as well.
